Multi-wrestler membership feature change (change will happen evening of March 9th)

Does this impact your team?

This change will only impact WrestlingIQ teams that use Memberships (recurring subscriptions) and will only apply to families that have multiple kids on recurring memberships. 

If your team only uses one time / installment based pricing ('Registrations'), this does not impact your team.

Do you need to do anything?

If you offer a sibling discounts on your recurring memberships and you offer a percent off discount code, you may need to make a change. If we think you do, we will proactively reach out to you. 

If you haven't heard from us directly, you don't need to do anything.

What's happening?

We are changing how memberships work to enforce a one wrestler to one recurring bill rule. In other words, families with two kids on recurring plans will now have two separate bills/charges—one for each of their kids. If a family has 3 kids on a recurring plan, they'll have 3 recurring bills, etc.

This means that:

1. New memberships will enforce a 1 wrestler to 1 recurring bill rule during the sign up process.
2. We will be migrating all existing memberships to this format behind the scenes. 

Here is a mockup of what customers, signing up multiple kids at the same time for the same membership, will see moving forward. Notice that two recurring subscriptions are being bound, so that on the backend you can manage them independently. 

Why?

When the membership / recurring billing functionality was first built, we thought it would be nice if parents with multiple kids in the club had a single monthly bill. What we didn't expect was how much headache it is to manage multi-kid memberships as an admin. 

For example, if you want to change a membership mid-month (sibling joins, only 1 of the siblings wants to cancel, etc) it gets complicated really quickly. You either have to pro-rate the addition/removal (hard to explain to parents why the price is not what you advertise) or you have to just eat the additional money as a club (not ideal). 

Sibling discounts are also tricky in the multi-kid membership situation, because our current billing partner (Stripe) enforces a single coupon per subscription rule. 

By migrating to this 1 wrestler per subscription structure, we will be able to make sibling discounts better (i.e. second kid gets x% off, 3rd kid gets a different % off) and offer better management tools for memberships, including the ability for admins to move wrestlers from one plan to another, cancel only 1 kid in a family without canceling the entire membership, and more.
